The communications center is the heart and soul of the Sheriff's department. The dispatchers play a very important role in the operation of the department. The communications center is supervised by Master Sgt. Cornescia Smith-Dorsey who serves as TAC Officer and LaToya Riley who serves as Assistant TAC Officer. The Holmes County Sheriff Department has 4 full-time dispatchers and 2 part-time dispatchers. The duties of the dispatchers are to receive emergency and non emergency calls from the public requesting police, fire, medical or other emergency services, determine the nature and location of the emergency; determine priorities, and dispatch police, fire, ambulance or other emergency units as necessary and in accordance with established procedures, receive and process 911 emergency calls, maintain contact with all units on assignment, maintain status and location of police and fire units.
The dispatchers at the Holmes County Sheriff's Department handle all 911 calls for Holmes County, dispatch for all fire departments, dispatch for deputies, and 3 city police departments.
